Results of the First Day of the 17th International Forum and Exhibition “Transport of Russia”

On November 14–16, Moscow’s Gostiny Dvor is hosting a Forum and Exhibition “Transport of Russia”, which cover key events that have occurred in the transportation world and are set to shape the development of the entire industry. The organizers are planning to host business activities that will take on over 20 formats and will deal with all the topical issues faced by transportation players with over 300 experts being involved.

The business program opened with a plenary discussion titled 100 Years of Civil Aviation. Looking into the Future by Rethinking the Past. The members were set to figure out what Russia’s modern civil aviation is all about, what it will look like tomorrow, whether complete import substitution is feasible in the industry, and what solutions need to be adopted to improve customer experience.

The next item on the Forum’s agenda was a round table discussion titled Road Transportation by Public Passenger Vehicles: Global Development Trends, which focused on best practices in transportation planning, matters related to the carriage of goods and passengers (including operations performed between countries and within donee regions), and improvement of passenger vehicles.

A plenary session titled Data on Board Vehicles: fr om Corporate Projects to a National Platform raised points about integrating industry-specific data from various public and corporate sources, regulating the possession and use of data at the national level and at the industry level, and developing digital logistics services as well as federal-level transportation and logistics platforms.

The 7th annual conference titled BIM GENERATION 2023 revolved around the key topic of developing information technology solutions at work in the road industry. It involved some of the leading developers who spoke about how they are planning to develop their line of software products in the short run and in the long run. Design companies and Avtoban Road Construction Company (JSC) demonstrated success cases obtained from the use of information modeling under real-life projects, and representatives of higher educational institutions shared lessons learned from integrating advanced technology into the teaching/learning process.

On the first day of the Forum, the Infrastructure Economics Center presented its study titled The Public Transport Management Situation in Russia. The Center’s experts studied how route networks were organized in different cities, how traffic was broken down by vehicle type and class, what the situation was like in the transportation market, what contracts were used, and how diverse the ticket offerings were. Among the outcomes of their work was a ranking of cities in terms of the maturity of their transport systems and a set of recommendations for improving the public transport management mechanisms.

The first day of Transport of Russia hosted a total of 10 activities wh ere the members discussed the power industry and transportation infrastructure, the key trends in research and engineering for the road economy, the development of international transportation corridors, and the cooperation among relevant regulators of countries in the Eurasian region towards implementing best practices in transportation safety assurance.

The proceedings of November 14 also featured signing of 15 cooperation agreements and 3 formal walk-round inspections of the exhibition grounds: one by Vitaly Savelyev, Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation, one by Vasily Desyatkov, Deputy Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation, and one by the Mali delegation.
